Medical Disclaimer

This diabetes logbook tracker is an educational personal record keeping tool. It does not diagnose diabetes, prediabetes, or any other medical condition. It does not provide treatment recommendations, insulin dose suggestions, or clinical interpretations of your readings. All blood glucose readings and trends should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional. This tool stores data locally in your browser only and does not transmit any information to a server.

Quick Summary

Digital blood glucose diary without account requirements. Track fasting, pre-meal, post-meal, and bedtime readings. View rolling averages, standard deviation, and export full reports for physician consultations.

How It Works

  1. Select your glucose unit — Choose mg/dL or mmol/L. Your selected unit applies to all entries and can be changed at any time.
  2. Add a reading — Enter your blood glucose value, meal context, and optional notes. Date and time default to the current moment.
  3. Review your log — View all entries in the readings table. Use search, filter, and sort controls to find specific entries.
  4. Edit or delete — Click Edit to modify an entry or Delete to remove it. A confirmation dialog prevents accidental deletion.
  5. Export or import — Download your data as a CSV file at any time, or import existing CSV data to restore or merge records.
  6. Review your summary — The summary section shows total entries, latest reading, average, highest, and lowest readings automatically.

Formula Used

Readings are recorded and displayed with two supporting calculations:

  • Average Glucose — The arithmetic mean of all recorded glucose values (sum of values divided by number of entries).
  • Unit Conversion — When switching between mg/dL and mmol/L, existing values are converted using the IFCC-recommended factor: 1 mmol/L = 18.0182 mg/dL.

This tool does not calculate or interpret clinical significance. It is designed for personal record keeping only.

Evidence

Blood glucose monitoring is a standard component of diabetes self-management education. This logbook provides a tool for recording and reviewing glucose readings for educational personal record keeping. Supporting references include:

  • The American Diabetes Association (ADA) publishes Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes, which include recommendations for blood glucose monitoring and self-management education.
  • The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) provides educational resources on diabetes tests, diagnosis, and self-management.
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers educational information on diabetes management and blood glucose monitoring.
  • The National Library of Medicine (MedlinePlus/NIH) provides patient education resources on blood glucose testing and diabetes self-management.

This tool is for educational record keeping only and does not provide clinical interpretations, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations.

How to Interpret Your Results

Your log displays readings and summary statistics — average, highest, lowest — as straight mathematical calculations. The tool does not assign clinical meaning to any value. Key points about the data:

  • Summary statistics (average, highest, lowest) are mathematical calculations of your recorded values and are provided for informational reference only.
  • Individual readings reflect the values you entered and are displayed alongside the meal context you selected for reference.
  • Reading patterns over time may be useful to discuss with your healthcare provider, but this tool does not analyze, interpret, or provide recommendations based on your data.

This logbook is an educational tool for personal record keeping. Always discuss your blood glucose readings and diabetes management with a qualified healthcare professional.
